MATHIRAKSHANA – Grade 11
Hello there!
I am stoked to be reaching out to you like this! ?
No doubt we have been shaken by this sudden (maybe not now!) change that has taken over the world.
I bet these blogs are going to be a breather for you, amidst this pandemonium.
Where do I begin though?
For starters (why do I have to sound like I am serving food? ?), I mean, to begin with, August 2019 marked something of monumental importance. As we are in August, it is a good time to think about what happened during August last year, don’t you think? I know, sounds like a weird thing to think about during the end of August, when we are gearing up for a new month, a new slate…
However, this topic needs some discussion.
We all are very aware of Article 370.
The divide that caused a frenzy of disagreement, controversy and anger from Indians all over the country.
To mark the day of its abrogation of significance, after a year, on August 5th 2020, the Indian government decided to lay the foundation for Ram Mandir, a temple the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) wanted to be constructed on a former mosque site, Babri Masjid.
Subject to debate, this harbored a lot of attention, positive and negative.
Of course, the row between the Hindus and Muslims was very long. A feud lasting from 1853-2019.
There were all sorts of political interventions, a lot of protests, a lot of attacks, conflicts and more stemming from this…
Also, the whole religious side where some lines were crossed, is a tad concerning.
When I first came across this, I was affronted by the various things that had taken place.
I was also thinking deeply about this.
Why is it so that this string of back and forth blame-pushing did not stop at one point, only to deepen and make matters worse?
Reading article after article, that each time put the whole situation in a bad light, I was hoping for a sensible solution. Which in the end, considering the whole ride that piece of land has been through, seemed reasonable, but not completely satisfactory.
Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly and applying the wrong remedies said Groucho Marx.
I agree a solid 1000% percent, and that’s not even a real number! ?
When such stunts are pulled (like the one this year, with Ram Mandir), it makes the public sceptic.
And from the lens of sceptic, everything seems erroneous.
It may be true mostly.
Personally, I am disturbed by how things spanned out- this fight had gone on for too long, and to uncover this again purely comes off as unfortunate. Unfortunate for the government as what was once closed is brought to light again, only to be received badly. Again.
Religion is sacred. Sacred to believers and devotees.
Keeping that in mind, we should be able to steer our government to make the right choices in regards to a huge happening as this- this is bigger than all of us for that matter.
I guess we have to stay en guard, for any more news regarding the issue!
Thank you for your time!
Remember, religion cannot be politicized- it is going to garner a heavier, broader and bigger amount of negativity.
Bye for now!!
